Apple AI Long Overdue

Apple’s reported plans to turn Siri into a true AI chatbot are long overdue—and encouraging. I really enjoy my Apple products.

Our firm runs almost entirely on Apple hardware: desktops, tablets, and mobile devices. We value Apple’s security, ecosystem stability, and privacy stance. That said, Siri has consistently underperformed for real business use. Beyond basic commands like playing music or checking the time, it hasn’t delivered meaningful, conversational intelligence. I can get a bit snarky with Siri because of its limitations.

Apple Intelligence, announced in 2024, was especially disappointing given the expectations. Compared to the real-world utility we’ve experienced with tools like ChatGPT since 2022, the gap has been obvious. What’s the point of the Apple Intelligence extension being ChatGPT?

This new direction suggests Apple finally recognizes that gap and is finally moving to close it. That’s good for users and good for the ecosystem—but execution will matter more than announcements.

For now, we’re taking a wait-and-see approach. OpenAI remains our primary AI platform because it already aligns with how we work, think, and build systems for clients. It’s proven, adaptable, and delivering real value today.

If Apple gets this right, great—we welcome stronger native AI inside iOS and macOS. Until then, we’ll continue relying on tools that are already moving the needle. Not sure if I like the Google partnership, because an OpenAI partnership would seem stronger to me. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-01-21/ios-27-apple-to-revamp-siri-as-built-in-iphone-mac-chatbot-to-fend-off-openai
